Vintage Nautical Nursery Design

You may have seen the sneak peak of a nursery I designed over on our Facebook page a few days ago. Well, I am excited to announce that we welcomed our precious baby boy, Jayden, in early September and that nursery happens to be his! My hands have been pretty full, literally – I cannot stop snuggling and kissing him. He is so much fun but being a mom definitely has been a full-time job in itself. Nonetheless, I wouldn’t change it for anything. He sure is the perfect angel baby. Here is a sneak peak of our newborn shoot (don’t worry, when I receive the photos from our fabulous photographer, Heather, I will share the cuteness).

My husband purchased a gently used professional camera shortly after Jayden was born (mostly to take high quality photos of our little peanut) and so I decided to test it out on the nursery. I am not a professional photographer, but these photos are better than what my iPhone can capture.

When we found out we were having a boy, I immediately knew I wanted a vintage nautical themed nursery. We already had the dresser and side table (the space was previously our spare bedroom). This was a inspirational mood board that got me started.

We own a 22 catalina sailboat and when I was searching for the perfect bookcase, it wasn’t happening. So I was pleasantly surprised when my husband said he would build Jayden’s bookcase…and he nailed it, wouldn’t you say? That’s right, my husband built-this custom sailboat bookcase from scratch.

There are so many handmade items in Jayden’s nursery. The  artwork, throw pillow, and custom Growth Chart all came from Etsy.

This Set Sail sign was hand painted painted by my grandmother. Jayden’s name wasn’t revealed until his birth so when she comes to visit, she will add his name across the top.

The antique dresser and night stand are from two of our favorite local stores, Hip and Humble and Lucketts. I replaced the original hardware with more appropriate knobs and pulls I found at Anthropologie.

I hope you enjoy Jayden’s vintage nautical themed nursery tour as much as I had designing it! Of all the projects I have done, this has been one of my favorite spaces, by far. I spend the majority of my time in the nursery these days and I enjoy every moment.
