Small Space = Big Impact

April 10, 2013 · 0 comments

That’s right, if you have a small space, did you know that you, in fact, can make a big impact? It’s no hidden secret, and there really isn’t any science behind it. Just because your urban crib is half the size of the suburban bungalow doesn’t mean it has to function any smaller.

In small spaces, the goal is to make it seem a little bigger than it truly is. Use oversized items like this massive mirror or this large bundle of fresh flowers. These items add height and dimension to your space. If you pair these items with smaller lounge pieces and tables, your space will naturally feel larger.

Stacking. Most of the time, your small dining space will only accommodate a few people comfortably, but what happens when you have guests? I recommend selecting dining chairs that stack. This minimizes the storage space needed (heck, store them in the corner as if they were meant to be part of the overall décor theme) but you know you always will have ample seating.

Touch the ceiling. When hanging window treatments install the curtain rod as close to the ceiling as possible. This will help create a taller ceiling and add drama to your entire space. If you keep the walls a neutral color, go bold with a fun pattern window treatment.
